💬 What is responsive fitness?

Responsive fitness means we adapt every session to how you feel that day—physically, mentally, and emotionally. Some days we lift. Some days we stretch. Some days we breathe. Progress looks different for everyone, and we meet you where you are.

🏋️ Do I need a gym membership to train with you?

Only at one location.

  • At Mountain Island Fitness, yes—you’ll need a gym membership.  You have full use of the gym at anytime- not just when we train.

  • At Huntersville Family Fitness & Aquatics (HFFA), no membership is required. You’ll train in a private, fully equipped room.  We will not be using their gym.

🏋️‍♀️ What is functional fitness?

Functional fitness is all about training your body to do real-life activities more easily and safely.

That means:

  • Getting up from a chair without using your hands

  • Climbing stairs without fear

  • Reaching, bending, squatting, and turning without pain

It’s not about flashy moves or heavy weights. It’s about staying independent, reducing injury risk, and feeling strong in your everyday life.

Whether it’s carrying groceries, walking the dog, or keeping up with the grandkids—we train for that.

🧠 I have cognitive challenges or anxiety—can I still train with you?

Absolutely. In fact, that’s one of our specialties. We adjust the pace, style, and communication to fit your needs. Whether you’re navigating memory issues, sensory sensitivity, or anxiety, we’ll create a session that feels supportive—not overwhelming.

🧍‍♀️What kind of clients do you work with?

Probably you- but here is a short list of who we work with - And actually, all of the pictures on the website are real clients - Normal, amazing, hard working people.  Most of our clients are 45+. Many have never did anything besides cardio or classes in a gym, have joint pain, have completed PT, or want to avoid surgery or assisted living. We also welcome clients with autism, cognitive delays, Parkinson’s, or mild depression. If you’re ready to feel better—we’re ready to help.  

🧴 What’s your studio environment like?

Think quiet music, calming scents, natural light, and 1:1 attention. No loud grunting, no gym crowds, no pressure to perform. Just personalized support in a peaceful setting.

We offer several options of personalized training to stay affordable.  One, two or three times a week.  30 min or 45 min options.  We also offer a few signature programs (Safe Falling Program, Injury Prevention for Pickleball; Tai Chi)  You can view our pricing here, or reach out to schedule a free consultation so we can recommend the best fit.

👕 What should I wear to a session?

Anything comfortable you can move in. Athletic shoes are best. Skip anything tight, revealing, or restrictive—we’re here to feel strong, not self-conscious. Bring a water bottle and any braces or supports you typically use.
