A Little About Me

I'm Mandy Self-Sparrow and I live in Charlotte, NC. After years of working in healthcare, I became frustrated with watching people have one fall and their lives would forever be changed.  Or worse, a fear of falling and giving up on enjoying life. I knew I could change that.  

My focus is strength, mobility, fall prevention, balance, cognition, coordination and endurance to help my clients live their best life.   I work with persons of ALL ages, physical and cognitive levels to help them live their best life. 

I understand that every person has a unique fitness need, each session is customized to each individual.  Do gyms overwhelm you? Don't even know where to start?  Let me help!

I am a Functional Aging Specialist, Personal Trainer, Occupational Therapy Assistant, a Tai Chi Instructor and a Nutrition Coach.

Functional Aging Specialist

Our focus includes functional training strategies and movements; how to conduct meaningful assessments of function.  Functional training is not just lowering the weight and doing the same exercise as others. Intentional exercises to increase functional strength. 

No matter the age or ability, a person must possess these 6 domains to live their best life:  Cognition/ emotional regulation; Neuromuscular; Musculoskeletal; Cardiorespiratory; Balance and Mobility.  I can help them with these 6 domains!

Tai Chi 

Tai Chi is a wonderful way for us to work on balance, breathing, cognition and control.   I found that Open the Door to Tai Chi is very user-friendly program and inviting for persons of all levels to participate.
